Ricardo Francisco Malerba, also known by the pseudonym Luz Demar, was born on August 24, 1905, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He was a bandoneon player, orchestra director, and composer dedicated to tango. He began his career performing in local cinemas with his brothers Alfredo and Carlos. In 1928, he joined Cátulo Castillo's orchestra for a European tour, performing in Spain and Portugal and recording for the Odeon label. Upon returning to Argentina, Malerba joined an orchestra with pianist Nicolás Vaccaro before forming his own orchestra, debuting on March 1, 1938, on Radio Belgrano. His ensemble included prominent vocalists such as Orlando Medina and Antonio Maida. The orchestra recorded for Odeon and Music Hall, with notable tracks including "Gitana rusa," and "Medianoche." He also composed tangos such as "ViolÃn" and "Embrujamiento," collaborating with lyricists like Horacio Sanguinetti and Julio Navarrine. Malerba passed away on June 29, 1974, in Buenos Aires.
