The Eastern Dark were an Australian punk rock band formed in 1984. The ensemble was founded by guitarist James Darroch, drummer Geoff Milne, and bassist Bill Gibson, the latter having previously performed with the Lime Spiders. They achieved professional recognition for opening live performances with chronological covers of tracks by the Ramones. They released their debut single, âJulie Is A Junkie / Johnny And Dee Deeâ (1985), through Waterfront Records. Their recording career includes the extended play Long Live the New Flesh! (1986), produced by Rob Younger. The ensemble became inactive in 1986 following a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of Darroch. Their discography includes the compilation Girls on the Beach (With Cars) (1990) and the career retrospective Where Are All the Single Girls? (2000), which was reissued in 2010.
