Rianne Downey, born in February 2000 in Scotland, is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist known for her work as a guitarist, harmonist, and pedal steel guitarist. At 16, she began her musical journey and was awarded the James McAvoy scholarship to study at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow. Rianne Downey's career took off through busking in Glasgow and building a fanbase via online streams. She released her debut single "Fuel to the Flame" in February 2021, which garnered over Three Thousand streams on its first day. In 2023, she replaced Jacqui Abbott for a festival concert with Paul Heaton and The Beautiful South following Jacqui Abbott's health scare. Rianne Downey continued her collaboration with Paul Heaton on his subsequent sell-out UK tour in 2023. Her second EP Come What May was released in February 2023, followed by Method to My Madness in June and The Consequence of Love in May 2025. Released in October 2025, her debut album The Consequence of Love topped the UK Country and UK Americana charts, and reached number 3 on the Scottish Albums chart.
