Biography

Rhibosome were a three-piece Australian electronic band from Perth that formed in 1998. The ensemble was founded by Clayton Chipper and Dave McKinney, both former members of the group Whak, and are famous for fusing live drumming and percussion with electronica. The group’s lineup included Chipper, McKinney, the percussionist Andrew Selmes, and the live sound engineer George Nikoloudis. They achieved professional recognition in 1999 with the release of their debut single “Impulse” and performed at festivals including Vibes on a Summer’s Day. Their discography includes the eponymous studio recording Rhibosome (2002) and an eponymous EP (2002). For their work, they received West Australian Music Industry Awards including Most Popular Local Original Electronic Act (2001) and Most Popular Local Original Live Electronic Act (2003). The ensemble disbanded in 2004.
