Paul Schütze, born on May 1, 1958 in Melbourne, Australia, is an artist and composer. He began his artistic journey with painting and drawing but began to explore electronic music after purchasing his first equipment while working in a factory. In the late 1970s, Schütze formed the improvising group Laughing Hands, which disbanded in 1982. His breakthrough came with the soundtrack for The Tale of Ruby Rose (1987), which won the Australian Film Institute Award for Best Original Music Score. Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, Schütze released numerous albums, including Deus Ex Machina (1989) and Apart (1995). His work has been featured in exhibitions such as Sonic Boom at the Hayward Gallery London in 2000.
