Reinmar Henschke was born on June 17, 1959 in Halle (Saale), Germany. He began piano lessons at age six and later studied the organ. After passing the entrance exam for organ at the Leipzig Academy of Music, he chose classical piano and composition studies at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig, graduating in 1981. In the 1980s, Henschke was part of the band Prima Klima, which later became the Acoustic Art Trio. He won a prize at the Jazz Pianist Competition in Kalisz, Poland, in 1987 and composed music for various theater productions. Moving to Berlin in 1989, he collaborated with notable artists such as Jens Saleh, Mario Würzebesser, Pascal von Wroblewsky, Volker Schlott, and Ulla Meinecke. Henschke has released several albums under his own name, including vansinn (2005) and On Air (2009), and contributed to numerous projects across jazz, rock, and other genres.
