Thomas Kukula was born in Germany in 1970 and emerged as the driving force behind the electronic music project Red 5. Initially a producer, Thomas Kukula began his career in the early 1990s with projects such as General Base, T.H.K., and Candy Beat. In 1995 he founded Red 5 as a liveâdance act, and the single "Da Beat Goes" released in 1996 propelled the group into the German Top 20, marking the first major chart success for Thomas Kukulaâs new project. The following year, the album Forces was issued, compiling earlier hits and solidifying the groupâs presence in the club scene. Throughout the late 1990s, Red 5 released singles like "I Love Youâ¦Stop!", "Lift Me Up", and "For This World / Red 5 Jumps", each accompanied by music videos featuring a distinctive red helmeted footballer motif; these tracks achieved further chart positions in Germany and across Europe. After 1998, Thomas Kukula shifted to solo releases under the moniker DJ Red 5, issuing singles such as "Da Bass" and "Que Pasa / Rocking Affair" in 2000, and a remix of "Da Beat Goes" in 2003. The project continued with reâissues and remixes, including "Da Beat Goes '10" in 2010 and "Da Beat Goes 2k16" in 2016, sustaining a presence in dance charts. The collaboration with Italian producer Stefy De Cicco yielded "Feels Like Home" in 2021, a track echoing the earlier hit "I Love Youâ¦Stop!".
