Biography

Susheela Raman comes from the Tamil community living in England. Inspired by Indian sounds, she marries them perfectly with today's electro-pop rhythms. Her delicate, sensual voice is the natural cement for this fusion. Salt Rain in 2001 was acclaimed in England and France, and Susheela Raman was adopted in France, where her success continued from album to album. Love Trap reached No. 32 in 2003, and Music for Crocodiles in 2005 was equally acclaimed, with only the 2007 covers album 33 1/3 marking a dip in her popularity. The Anglo-Indian made a remarkable comeback in 2011 with the excellent folk-rock-sounding Vel. She then spent a lot of time in India and Pakistant, from where she drew the inspiration for Queen Between in 2014.
