Biography

Rainbow Girls, a folk music group from California's North Bay area, formed in 2010 when Erin Chapin, Caitlin Gowdey, Vanessa Wilbourn, and Cheyenne Methmann began performing together at an underground open mic in Isla Vista. The band spent the summer of 2011 busking in Europe before returning to California with drummer Savannah Hughes. In April 2013, they released their debut album The Sound of Light. Following Methmann's departure in 2014 and Hughes' reduced touring schedule in 2016, Chapin, Gowdey, and Wilbourn continued as a trio. Their subsequent albums include Perceptronium (2015), American Dream (2018), and the cover album Give the People What They Want (2019). The band gained significant exposure in 2018 when their video of "Down Home Girl" received several million views on Facebook.
