Biography
Radim HladÃk, born on December 13, 1946, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, was a guitarist known for his distinctive rock and jazz-fusion electric sound. He began playing guitar at age 15 with the group Komety before joining The Matadors with VladimÃr MiÅ¡Ãk. In 1968, HladÃk and MiÅ¡Ãk formed the Blue Effect, initially known for their blues-influenced beat music. After MiÅ¡Ãk's departure, HladÃk led the band into jazz fusion and progressive rock territories. Notable collaborations include work with Marián Varga and Pavol Hammel. His signature composition "Äajovna" from the 1975 album Modrý efekt & Radim HladÃk became one of his most recognized works. In 1979, he recorded "Å aty z šátků", the winning song of the annual music contest Bratislavská lýra. HladÃk remained active until his death on December 4, 2016.
