Quicksand is an American post-hardcore band from New York, formed in 1990. The group originally consisted of Walter Schreifels on vocals and guitar, Tom Capone on guitar, Alan Cage on drums, and Sergio Vega on bass. The band released its self-titled debut EP, Quicksand, six weeks after forming, followed by tours with acts including Helmet and Fugazi. In 1993, the group signed with Polydor Records and released its debut studio album, Slip (1993), which included the single "Dine Alone" (1993). The following year, the group toured with The Offspring to promote Slip. Its second studio album, Manic Compression, was released on February 28, 1995, and reached number 135 on the Billboard 200 chart. Internal conflicts led to the band's disbandment in October 1995. The group reunited in 1998 but disbanded again by the end of 1999. The band reformed in June 2012, subsequently releasing the studio albums Interiors (2017), Distant Populations (2021), and Bring on the Psychics (2026).
