Biography

Puerto Rican All Stars, a salsa and Latin jazz band from Puerto Rico, was founded in 1977 by Frankie Gregory as an alternative to Johnny Pacheco's Fania All-Stars. They released their debut album Puerto Rico All Stars the same year, followed by Los profesionales (1978) and Puerto Rico All Stars, vol. 1 (1979). Notable members included Andy Montáñez, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Victor Manuelle, Lalo Rodriguez, Marvin Santiago, Hector Tricoche, Paquito Guzman, Tito Allen, and Papo Lucca. After a hiatus, they returned with De regreso (1996) and Echando candela (2013).
