Preeya Kalidas, born 21â¯Juneâ¯1980 in Isleworth, London, is an English singer and actress of Gujarati heritage. She began ballet at three and trained at the Sylvia Young Theatre School before entering the entertainment industry. Kalidas first appeared on screen in 1998, and her breakthrough in music came with the 2010 single "Shimmy", released by Universal Records as part of her planned debut album, which was never issued. In 2011 she signed with All Around The World and released "It's A Problem" featuring Scorcher, followed by "Love Between Us" with DaVinChe in 2012. Her singles "Don't Give Up" and "Can't Live Without You" were issued in 2014, both slated for inclusion on a forthcoming album that has not materialised. Kalidas earned the Best Female Act award at the 2011 UK Asian Music Awards and collaborated with artists such as Mumzy Stranger, Skepta, and Bashy. While her music releases have not charted prominently, her work has contributed to the UK pop and UK Asian music scenes, and she continues to perform in theatre, most recently in the West End production of Bend It Like Beckham and the musical Everybody's Talking About Jamie.
