Biography

Pierre Laniau, born in 1955, is a French guitarist known for his contributions to Baroque music. He studied at the École normale de musique de Paris (Paris Normal School of Music) under Alberto Ponce and Narciso Yepes. Laniau's career highlights include advocacy for the guitar baroque, performing works by composers such as Jean-Baptiste Lully and Gaspar Sanz on historic instruments. He released Pièces pour guitare in 1999. His performances spanned major festivals in France and international venues across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas. In 2005, he was made a Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture for his contributions to music and education initiatives in Africa.
