Biography
Pieternella "Pia" Beck was born on September 18, 1925, in The Hague, Netherlands. She began playing piano at age six and debuted as part of the Samoa Girls in 1940. In 1945, she joined the Miller Sextet led by guitarist Ab de Molenaar. Beck formed her own jazz combo in 1949 and achieved a breakthrough with "Piaâs Boogie", which became a hit. She released several albums including Dutch Treat. She passed away on November 26, 2009, in Torremolinos, Spain.
