Peter Ratzenbeck, born on October 10, 1955, in Graz, Austria, is an Austrian guitarist, composer, and music teacher. At age 16, he received his first guitar from a mail-order company and began learning songs and chords from his friend Xao Seffcheque. In the 1970s, Ratzenbeck honed his skills as a street musician in various European cities. His breakthrough came in 1976 with his debut public concert in Bregenz, followed by the release of his first album Straight and Ragged in 1977. Throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s, he released several albums including Fingerprints in 1978 and Sugar and Spice in 1979. He collaborated with notable artists such as Andy Irvine and Reinhard Mey. His career milestones include the release of Resonances in 2005, featuring guest musicians Michael Chapman and Dougie MacLean.
