Biography

Peter Ecklund was an American jazz cornetist. He received a degree from Yale University in 1967 and began his career touring with singer Paula Lockheart. He formed his own jazz band and worked with various pop and rock acts throughout the 1970s and 1980s. He also performed as a substitute with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks Orchestra and was a member of Marty Grosz’s Orphan Newboys. Ecklund released albums including Ecklund at Elkhart (1995) and Strings Attached (1996), and collaborated with artists such as David Bromberg, Marty Grosz, Geoff Muldaur, Leon Redbone, Bob Dylan, and Bonnie Raitt. He died on April 8, 2020, from Parkinson’s disease.
