Biography

Peter Bradley Adams is an American folk-pop singer-songwriter from Birmingham, Alabama. Inspired by his grandfather, a professional jazz clarinetist and pianist, Adams began playing piano at age six and studied music composition at the University of the South and the University of Alabama. In 2001, he co-founded the folk-pop duo eastmountainsouth with Kat Maslich Bode, which signed to DreamWorks Records within a year. Their self-titled debut album included the single "You Dance," a Number 1 AAA radio hit for two months. Adams's cover of "Hard Times," the opening track on the album, appeared in Cameron Crowe's 2005 film Elizabethtown and on its soundtrack. After eastmountainsouth performed their last show in September 2004, Adams began his solo career with a limited edition EP in 2005 and released his first full-length album Gather Up in 2006. He was named Notable New Artist of the Year by The Loft (Sirius XM) Satellite Radio that year.
