Pete Jacobsen, born Peter Paul George Jacobsen on May 16, 1950, in Newcastle upon Tyne, was an English jazz pianist. Blind from birth, he studied at the Worcester School for the Blind and later formed his own trio. In 1969, he moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music. Jacobsen's career began with collaborations including saxophonists Barbara Thompson, Gary Boyle, and Don Weller. He joined the jazz-fusion band MorrisseyâMullen, releasing This Must Be The Place in 1985 and Happy Hour in 1988. Notable collaborations include work with Bobby Wellins Quartet on albums like Live... Jubilation (1978) and Birds of Brazil (1989), and with Chris Biscoe, resulting in The Chris Biscoe Sextet (1986). Jacobsen's solo album, Ever Onward, was released in 1994. He died on April 29, 2002, at age 51. Posthumously, FMR Records released a compilation titled For Pete's Sake Volume 1 in 2012.
