Biography
Pavel Bobek, born on September 16, 1937, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, was a singer. He began his music career as the vocalist for the rock group Olympic from 1963 to 1965 and later joined the Musical Theatre Semafor in 1967. His repertoire included covers of international hits like "Walk on the Wild Side" by Lou Reed and Czech adaptations of country classics such as "Take Me Home, Country Roads" by John Denver. A significant moment was his 1978 encounter with Johnny Cash, leading to international recognition after they performed "Will the Circle Be Unbroken" together at the U.S. Embassy. His notable albums included his debut VeÄ mÄ dál, cesto má (1975). In 2010, Bobek recorded VÃc nehledám (2010), an album featuring covers of Johnny Cash songs. Despite health issues, he returned to performing in May 2012 and released Circles (2012). Bobek died on November 20, 2013, at the age of 76.
