Paulinho Boca de Cantor, born Paulo Roberto Figueiredo de Oliveira on June 28, 1946, in Santa Inês, Bahia, Brazil, is a Brazilian singer and composer. He co-founded Novos Baianos in 1969 and released 10 studio albums with the group, including Acabou Chorare (1972). Paulinho Boca de Cantor introduced vocals to the electric trio format with Trio Elétrico dos Novos Baianos in 1976. After Novos Baianos disbanded in 1979, he launched his solo career with the album Paulinho Boca de Cantor - Bom de Chinfra e Bom de Amor, featuring collaborations with Gilberto Gil and Luiz Galvão on "Que bom prato é vatapá". His 1981 release, Valeu, became one of the best-selling independent albums in Brazilian history. In 1983, he performed at the show Bahia de Todos os Sambas alongside Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, and João Gilberto. Paulinho Boca de Cantor reunited with Novos Baianos in 1997 to release Infinito Circular.
