Biography

Patty Larkin is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist who was born in 1951. She began classical piano studies in 1958 and later taught herself guitar while songwriting in high school. Her recording career began in 1985 with the album Step into the Light on the Philo/Rounder label. Larkin signed to the Windham Hill sub-label High Street in 1990. Her recordings include the albums Angels Running (1993) and Watch the Sky (2008), the latter of which was named a "critic choice" by the New York Times. In 2010, she released the retrospective album 25, which featured 25 guest artists to mark her 25th year of recording. She produced the compilation La Guitara (2005). Her songs have been featured in several films, including the track “Anyway the Main Thing Is” in the movie Evolution (2001). The singer Cher recorded a version of Larkin's song “Angels Running” for the album It’s a Man’s World. Larkin received an honorary doctorate of music degree from the Berklee College of Music.
