Biography

Pietro Paolo Pelandi (born 29 June 1959 in Alzano, Lombardy, Italy), known as P. Lion, which is a reference to the coat of arms of his family of noble origin. Learning piano early in life, Pelandi began to write his own songs, rising to prominence in the early 1980s at the forefront of Italo-disco, a Italian disco sub-genre, evolving from underground dance and pop music. His two hit singles “Happy Children” (1983) and “Dream” (1984) from the debut album Springtime charted across Europe, propelling him into the spotlight, and in 1991 he returned with the Eurodance hit “Burn in His Hands". Making his mark as an arranger, his pop-rock album A Step in the Right Way (1995) was a hit amongst fans, however failed to produce charting singles. Over the years “Happy Children” continues to be his biggest hit, used as the title theme for popular French TV and radio chart show Top 50, and has been remixed by several prominent European artists DJs. In 2021, The Drizzly Collection was released, including mixes by Demi Shine, DJ Worris and Funkstar De Luxe, with “Happy Children (No Hopes Remix)” appearing in 2022 by Russian house DJ No Hopes.
