Biography

Orquesta La Identidad is a Colombian salsa ensemble founded in Cali in 1981 by composer, singer and musician Carlos Enrique Navia. The group’s first major recording milestone came with La Identidad in 1987, an album that included "Mujeres," "Las Cosas Son Como Son," "Cada Cual por Su Lado" and other early staples; "Mujeres" was recognized in connection with the Feria de Cali and helped open the door to the orchestra’s first U.S. tour. The follow-up album La Música arrived in 1989 and extended the group’s reach with songs such as "Tu Desdén" and the title track. In 1990, Orquesta La Identidad released Un Toque de Misterio, produced by César Monges “Albóndiga,” with "Quiéreme" becoming one of the key songs in its catalog and supporting another international run that included the United States and Ecuador. The next phase brought Salsa Con Energía, recorded at Grupo Niche’s studios and featuring tracks such as "Si Ella Volviera," "Desengaños" and "Como Yo Te Amé," followed by Profesión Salsa in 1993. After that period, the group continued independently and later added releases such as A Tiempo and a series of singles including "Por Siempre Ella," "Mi Guaguancó," "Guayaquil," "Desengaños," "Colombia En Paz" and the 2026 single "Un Toque De Misterio."
