The Old Merry Tale Jazzband, a German Dixieland band, was formed in 1956. The group initially gained traction with their debut single "Am Sonntag Will Mein SüÃer Mit Mir Segeln Gehn" from the film of the same name, which reached number 4 on the charts and remained in the Top 10 for thirteen weeks in 1961. This success was followed by other notable singles such as "Auf Der Lüneburger Heide" and "Hallo Kleines Fräulein". The band signed with Deutsche Grammophon in 1960, and members played professionally from 1960 to 1962. Key members included Jost 'Addi' Münster on the Posaune, who joined in 1957 and became the band's leader in 1958, and Reinhard Zaum on bass, tuba, and vocals, who joined in 1959.
The Old Merry Tale Jazzband released numerous albums throughout their career, including We Shall Walk Through The Streets (1960), Jazz Party Mit Der Old Merry Tale Jazzband (1961), and Hot Time (1974). They were known for their regular performances at the "Fabrik" in Hamburg. The band disbanded in 1984, having released a total of 14 singles, 24 LPs, and 3 EPs.
