Biography

Norihito Sumitomo, born 住友紀人 on February 27, 1964, in Tokushima, Japan, is a saxophonist, composer, and orchestrator. He graduated from the Berklee College of Music and returned to Japan, where he became recognized as a professional saxophonist. Sumitomo participated as a musician in the solo album by Italian pianist Gianni Nosenchik, which also featured Ryuichi Sakamoto. In 2000, he joined Bob James' Asian tour as a saxophonist. Sumitomo expanded his work into television and film scores, composing for Shikabane Hime: Aka in 2008, the 2010 video game Gran Turismo 5, the 2012 live-action film Thermae Romae, the animated film Asura, and the animated film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods in 2013. He continued his collaboration with the Dragon Ball franchise, composing music for Dragon Ball Kai, Dragon Ball Super, and its subsequent films and soundtracks.
