Biography

Nmperign, an experimental improvisational jazz group, was formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1998 by Bhob Rainey on soprano saxophone, Greg Kelley on trumpet, and percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani. The trio embarked on a cross-country tour and recorded their debut album 44'38"/5 at Studio 7A West in Charlestown, Massachusetts. Following Nakatani's departure in 1999, Nmperign released This Is Nmperign's Second CD, featuring their first collaboration with electronic musician Jason Lescalleet. The group continued to tour extensively across the United States and Europe, releasing albums such as In Which The Silent Partner-Director Can No Longer Make His Point To The Industrial Dreamer in 2000 and Salt Peanuts in 2003.
