Biography

Neto Reyno was a rapper, songwriter, and music producer from Mexico. He was born Ernesto Arizpe González in Monterrey, Nuevo León, on December 29, 1981. His career began in 1998, with his association with the Mexico City hip-hop collective Sociedad Café. Neto Reyno began learning how to produce beats and the more technical aspects of music making, which led to the recording of his first album El Comienzo de Una Nueva Era (1999). This was followed by 2002’s Esto Apenas Empieza and 2004’s La Guerra Continúa, and several others. Each of these albums further garnered a following in the local rap and hip-hop scene. In 2016, Neto Reyno participated in the documentary Somos Lengua as one of its main documentary subjects. The film explored the rap and hip-hop movements in Mexico, with appearances by artists such as Alemán, C-Kan, and more. Neto Reyno’s appearance in the documentary furthered his career on the national stage, and he became much more popular after its release. This was followed by Neto Reyno’s album Desde el Suelo (2017), which included songs such as “No Lo Dejes Caer,” one of his most famous songs. In 2018, he released King, and Honey followed in 2020. Neto Reyno passed away in 2022 after battling cancer.
