Nathan Maher is an Irish singer-songwriter and folk musician from Ballingarry, County Tipperary. After beginning his musical training at the age of thirteen, he started out performing rap and then worked as a DJ at parties. He experimented with various other styles before finding his niche in acoustic folk rooted in Irish tradition. He gained recognition on social media under the name âRough and Reliableâ before launching his music career on streaming platforms in 2024 with the track âMacroom,â which was remixed into a dance track by Eoin Normile. Other singles followed, such as âFlying Home, â âDevil in Disguise,â and âIt Donât Make No Sense, â before finding success in 2026 with âDancing in the Rain, â which reached No. 16 on the Irish Homegrown Singles chart.
