Biography

John Francis Flynn is an Irish folk singer and musician. Born in Dublin, he played several instruments and founded the traditional group Skippers' Alley, before venturing out on his own. Released in 2021, his debut album I Would Not Live Always seduced critics with its sophisticated arrangements, as in the follow-up "Bring Me Home", to find itself in the lists of the year's best folk albums. In addition to the author's guitar and flute, the work combines tradition with modernity, with its sounds of keyboards, electric guitar, clarinet or violin and synthesizer loops. On the strength of this critical and public acclaim, which saw him reach 8th place in the British folk charts, J. F. Flyn went on to produce his second album, Look Over the Wall, See the Sky (2023), which was equally acclaimed, winning him the titles of Best Folk Artist and Best Emerging Talent at the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.
