De Dannan was an Irish folk music group formed in 1975 by Frankie Gavin, Alec Finn, Johnny "Ringo" McDonagh, and Charlie Piggott following sessions in Spiddal, County Galway. The band initially included Mickey Finn as a founding member and later added the singer Dolores Keane. Their debut album, Dé Danann (1975), appeared on Polydor Records. In 1980, the group achieved a hit single in Ireland with an instrumental cover of âHey Judeâ (1980). During the 1980s, they released albums including Song for Ireland (1983), Anthem (1985), and Ballroom (1987). The ensemble was known for frequent lineup changes, featuring vocalists such as Maura OâConnell and Mary Black. The band members went their separate ways in 2003, and a dispute over the groupâs name occurred in 2009. In 2010, De Dannan released the album Wonderwaltz.
