Natasha Barrett is a British electroacoustic and contemporary music composer born in March 1972 in Norwich, England. After earning a masterâs degree from the University of Birmingham, Barrett received a doctoral degree in composition from City University, London, in 1998. That same year, she relocated to Norway as a resident composer at NoTAM. Barrett's work focuses on acousmatic concert music and the projection of 3-D sound-fields. Her discography includes the albums Rocks & Wraiths (1997), Chillies & Shells (1998), Isostasie (2002), Kraftfelt (2005), and Trade Winds (2007). She served as a professor at the Norwegian State Academy for Music from 2016 to 2023. As of 2025, Barrett has received 35 international awards, including the Nordic Council Music Prize (2006) and the Giga-Hertz Prize (2008). Her later releases include Heterotopia (2022) and Toxic Colour (2025).
