Vampire Rodents was an experimental music ensemble formed in 1989 by composers Daniel Vahnke and Victor Wulf. The duo met while studying anthropology at the University of Toronto and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. Their debut album, War Music, released in 1990, featured a dark humor and experimental approach to industrial rock. In 1992, they released Premonition with violinist Andrea Akastia, expanding their sound into electroacoustic and ambient music. The following year, Lullaby Land (1993) further diversified their sound with house beats, swing rhythms, and world music influences. Legal issues led to a hiatus starting in 1996, and after over a decade of inactivity, Daniel Vahnke officially announced his musical retirement and the project's abandonment in 2009. Vahnke began issuing unreleased material through a video streaming platform in 2016 and in 2017, Vampire Rodents released their sixth album, Noises in the Wall, digitally on Bandcamp.
