Biography

FM, a Canadian progressive rock band, was formed in 1976 in Toronto by Cameron Hawkins and Jeff Plewman, also known as Nash the Slash. The duo began recording together shortly after meeting while jamming with a band called Clear. In February 1977, Martin Deller joined on drums, forming a trio. FM's debut album Black Noise was released by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 1978 and later reissued commercially. The band signed with Visa Records in the USA and Passport Records in Canada, releasing several albums including Surveillance (1979) and City of Fear (1980). In 1983, Nash the Slash rejoined FM, and they continued to release music until their disbandment in 1989. The band reformed briefly from 1994 to 1996 and again in 2006 before settling into a hiatus that lasted until 2011. In 2015, FM released Transformation.
