Biography

Nancy Harrow, born October 3, 1930, in New York City, is an American jazz singer and songwriter who began studying classical piano at age seven. Her music career commenced with Wild Women Don't Have The Blues for Candid Records in 1961, featuring Kenny Burrell and Milt Hinton. In 1962, she released You Never Know on Atlantic Records, collaborating with John Lewis and Phil Woods. After a hiatus to raise a family, Harrow returned to music in 1975, working with notable figures like Dick Katz and Clark Terry. Her album Winter Dreams (2003), based on the life of F. Scott Fitzgerald, was used for the musical This Side of Paradise, which ran for six weeks in New York City in 2010. Harrow is also known for her adaptations of children's stories, such as The Adventures of Maya the Bee and The Cat Who Went to Heaven.
