Biography

Mujician was a British free improvising and free jazz quartet, formed in 1988. The group's core members Paul Dunmall on reeds, Keith Tippett on piano, Paul Rogers on bass, and Tony Levin on drums and percussion. Their debut album, The Journey, featured a single live track recorded at the 1990 Bath Festival. This was followed by The Bristol Concert, released in 2000, but recorded in 1991. In 1994, they released Poem About the Hero, another live recording captured in front of a small audience. Colours Fulfilled, their first studio session was released in 1998. The group continued with releases such as Birdman in 1996, Spacetime in 2002, and There's No Going Back Now in 2006. Mujician retained its original lineup throughout their career and reunited for a short tour in 2010 to celebrate Tony Levin’s seventieth birthday. These performances marked their final shows, as Tony Levin passed away in February 2011. On June 14, 2020, Keith Tippett died at the age of 72. In 2021, a posthumous release titled 10 10 10 was issued, followed in October 2025 by In Concerts.
