Moving Gelatine Plates is a French progressive rock band formed in 1968 in Sartrouville, Yvelines. The group consisted of bassist Didier Thibault and guitarist Gérard Bertram, who had known each other since they were teenagers. They initially started as a rock 'n' roll band with drummer Gérard Pons and multi-instrumentalist Maurice Hemlinger and their name was inspired by John Steinbeck's novel Travels with Charley: In Search of America. Moving Gelatine Plates released their self-titled debut album in 1971 on CBS Records, followed by The World of Genius Hans in 1972. The band struggled with commercial success and financial issues, leading to their disbandment in 1972. After a long hiatus, Moving Gelatine Plates returned in 2006 with the album Removing, featuring a new lineup including Maxime Goetz on guitars and Ãric Hervé on drums.
