Biography
Moses Taiwa Molelekwa was a jazz pianist born on April 17, 1973, in Tembisa, Gauteng, South Africa. He began his career in the 1980s playing with artists such as Miriam Makeba and Jonas Gwangwa. In 1988, Hugh Masekela invited him to join his bands. Molelekwa's solo career started in 1994 with the album Finding One's Self. By 1996, he had won two FNB South Africa Music Awards for traditional jazz. He performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival and collaborated with Brazilian singer Flora Purim on his second album. Notable albums include Genes and Spirits (2000). Molelekwa was found dead on February 13, 2001.
