Formed in Varsund in 2008, it originally comprised Sondre Skollevoll (vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion), Rune Stordahl (bass, vocals) and Thor Alexsander Omland Pettersen (drums, percussion). Renowned for their bold, eclectic style, the band has made a name for itself with energetic performances on the Scandinavian scene, particularly at festivals such as Hove Music Festival, Norway Rock and by:Larm. Their discography includes the albums The Propaganda Machine (2012) and Defenders of the Small Yard (2014), before the departure of Rune Stordahl, replaced by Christian Fredrik Steen. In 2015, Moron Police also welcomed keyboardist Lars Bjørknes (keyboards) and recorded the album A Boat on the Sea (2019), followed by the spaghetti western EP The Stranger and the Hightide (2021). In January 2022, former drummer Thor Alexsander Omland Pettersen dies after a car accident. The band paid tribute to him on the following album Pachinko, released in 2025.
