Green Jellÿ (originally Green Jellö) is an American satirical rock and metal band formed in 1981 in Buffalo, New York. Led since then by singer Bill Manspeaker aka Moronic Dictator, the band has changed musicians several times, and has included drummer Danny Carey (1989-1994) and Tool, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer singer Maynard James Keenan, credited as backing vocalist in the early 1990s. After a debut EP entitled Let It Be (1984) and the album Triple Live Möther Gööse at Budokan (1989), Green Jell-ö became Green Jellö for the EP Suxx! (1991) and the Cereal Killer Soundtrack album (March 1993). Following pressure from Kraft Foods Inc.'s Jell-O company, the band changed its name to Green Jellÿ and released the singles "Three Little Pigs" and "Anarchy in the UK" in summer 1993. In 1994, they released the album 333, before breaking up the following year. In 2008, Bill Manspeaker rekindled the flame with a tour and a return to the studio to record the album Musick to Insult Your Intelligence By (2009). In 2016, a concert DVD entitled Green Jellÿ Suxx Live: An Experience in Ridiculousness was released, followed by the live album The Official Soundtrack of the Documentary Green Jellÿ Suxx Live (2018). After a SpongeBob parody in "Silence of the Sponge", Green Jellÿ release their fifth studio album, Garbage Band Kids, in 2021.
