Biography
American neo-progressive rock supergroup, Pattern-Seeking Animals features members of Spock's Beard. Formed in Los Angeles in 2018 by the three musicians Ted Leonard (vocals, guitar), Dave Meros (bass) and Jimmy Keegan (drums), it also includes multi-instrumentalist John Boegehold (keyboards, programming, guitar), a new creative force behind the musical concepts developed over the course of the albums. Signed to the Sony Music-affiliated Inside Out Music label, the band recorded a debut album of the same name, featuring lengthy compositions with complex architectures. Released in summer 2019, it was followed less than a year later by Prehensile Tales (2020), well received by specialist critics. While touring brought in additional musicians, the four musicians returned to the studio to work on the albums Only Passing Through (2022) and Spooky Action at a Distance (2023). In 2025, the fifth album Friend of All Creatures was released on a new label, Giant Electric Pea Records.
