Oliver Chesler, born January 20, 1970, in Newâ¯York City, is an American electronic music artist who performs under the stage name The Horrorist. After working as a club DJ in the midâ1990s, he released the single "One Night In N.Y.C." in 1996, which established his presence in the underground scene. The following year, he issued the single "Flesh Is The Fever," followed by the 2001 album Manic Panic, which incorporated samples from his own answering machine and reflected life in major cities; the album reached Number 1 on the Deutsche Alternative Chart in October 2004 after a reârelease on Out of Line Music. In 2003, singles such as "Planet Nordcore" and "Sex Machine" expanded his catalog. The 2007 album Attack Decay peaked at Number 3 on the Deutsche Alternative Chart, and subsequent releases Joyless Pleasure (2011) and Fire Funmania (2013) continued his output. Throughout his career, The Horrorist collaborated with DJs such as Chris Liebing and Ricardo Villalobos, and his tracks "The Virus" and "Mission Ecstasy" were issued as 12" remixes on labels including a45 and Robot Traxx.
