Biography

Moomin is a Japanese reggae artist born on July 13, 1972, in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture. He first appeared on the reggae scene in 1992 and traveled to Jamaica the following year to develop his musical style. Moomin made his official debut in 1997 after signing with Ki/oon Records, releasing the singles “Happy and Free” and “In the Rain”. His early discography includes the studio albums In My Life in 1998, Moments in 1999, and Natural High in 2002. In 2003, he moved to Universal Music Group and released the single “Itsumo Soba de”. Moomin has collaborated extensively with artists such as Corn Head and Dōzan Miki, with whom he released “Summer Riddim 01” in 2001. In 2006, he issued the cover album Adapt, featuring his interpretations of songs by Yōsui Inoue and Kōji Tamaki. Moomin joined the Knife Edge label in 2009 and remains a prolific figure in Japan’s reggae movement.
