Biography

Dywane Thomas Jr., known professionally as MonoNeon, and born on August 6, 1990, in Memphis, Tennessee, is an American bassist, experimental musician, and singer-songwriter. He began playing bass at four years old and started his career performing with Bar-Kays. In 2011, MonoNeon released his first EP, The Kitschy EP, and gained attention for his unique bass playing style, which included heavy string bending and a distinctive slapping technique. Notable albums include Down-to-Earth Art (2012), My Feelings Be Peeling (2019), and Supermane (2021). MonoNeon has collaborated with various artists, including Prince, Ne-Yo, and Georgia Anne Muldrow. He was also the last bassist hired by Prince before his death in 2016.
