Biography

Mona Fong Yat Wah (born Lee Meng-lan) on July 27, 1934 in Shanghai was a Hong Kong singer and later media executive. Fong was active in the 1950s and 1960s, when she was a popular nightclub singer and recording artist in Singapore and Hong Kong. Her releases include The Voice of Mona Fong (also issued as Mona Fong Meets Carding Cruz) on Diamond Records, featuring arrangements by Celso Carrillo and songs such as "Millionaire", "Wooden Heart", and "Delilah". She also appeared on the 1968 Pathé EP Merry Christmas alongside Tsin Tsing and Betty Chung. She is associated with the title song of the 1966 film The Blue and the Black. Fong later became a prominent figure in Hong Kong’s entertainment industry through her leadership roles at Shaw Brothers Studio and Television Broadcasts Limited (TVB).
