Sylvia Reyes La Torre-Perez de Tagle, born June 4, 1933, in Manila, Philippines, was a Filipino singer, actress, and radio star. She began her singing career at age five, participating in various contests. La Torre also appeared as an actress in films such as Ang Maestra (1941). In 1960, she hosted the radio program Tuloy ang Ligaya, which later transitioned to television as The Big Show. This led to her hosting another TV show, Oras ng Ligaya, earning her the title "First Lady of Philippine Television". She released several albums including Handang Matodas and Waray Waray. She became known for her renditions of songs like "Mutya ng Pasig" and "Maalaala Mo Kaya", earning her the reputation as the "Queen of Kundiman". Her filmography includes notable works such as Ulila ng Bataan (1952) and One Two Bato, Three Four Bapor (1988). She died on December 1, 2022.
