Biography

Modern Studies is a Scottish chamber pop band formed in 2015 by Emily Scott. The group began when Scott collaborated with Pete Harvey at his Pumpkinfield recording studio in Perthshire, along with drummer Joe Smillie and multi-instrumentalist Rob St. John. Their debut album, Swell to Great, was released in 2016 and reissued worldwide by Fire Records in October 2017. Subsequent releases include Welcome Strangers (2018), The Weight of the Sun (2020) and We Are There (2022). Modern Studies have toured extensively across the UK, performing at notable festivals such as Glastonbury and Celtic Connections.
