Miwa Sasagawa is a Japanese singer and songwriter born on 23 February 1983 in Shiunji-machi, Kitakanbara-gun, Niigata Prefecture. She achieved professional recognition in 2000 for the original track âThanks to be hereâ (2000) which received a grand prize in a Christmas song competition. Her recording career began with the debut major single âWaraiâ (2003) released through the label avex trax which reached number 49. Sasagawa achieved professional recognition for the debut studio recording Jijitsu (2003) which reached number 30. Her discography included the studio recordings Amata (2005) which reached number 21, Yoake (2006) which reached number 82, and Mayoinaku (2007). After performing as an independent artist between 2007 and 2012, she resumed activity with the Avex Group. Her recording career included the compilation Houjou - BEST '03-'18 (2018) and the studio recording Spica (2022). She achieved professional recognition for the radio program Miwa Sasagawa's All Night Japan (2004â2005) and the theatrical production +GOLD FISH (2013).
