Biography

Miki N’Doye, born Momodou “Miki” N’Doye on March 12, 1944, is a Gambian percussionist. In the mid-1970s, he performed music for tourists in his home country before moving to Norway in 1976. There, he worked with Erik and Jon Balke, Helge Linaae, Sveinung Hovensjø, and Finn Sletten in the band E’olen until the early 1980s. He then formed the Gambian Norwegian Friendship Orchestra and later co-founded the group Tamma with some of these musicians and Per Jørgensen; the group performed at Moldejazz in 1984 alongside Ed Blackwell and Don Cherry and released a self-titled album from that concert. He later formed the trio Sabba with Helge Linaae and kora player Demba Jobateh. His album Tuki was released in 2006.
