Mieze Katz, real name Maria Mummert, was born on May 4, 1979 in East Berlin. In 1997, she founded the electropop band MIA together with Andi Ross (later Andy Penn), Robert Schütze, Ingo Puls and Hannes Schulze. The group achieved great fame in Germany with songs such as "Hungriges Herz" (2004) and "Tanz der Moleküle" (2006). The album Zirkus (2006) reaches number 2 in the German charts and is awarded a gold record. In addition to her work with MIA., Mieze Katz is involved in various musical projects. She works with artists such as Virginia Jetzt!, Eizi Eiz, Melbeatz, Flexevil, Fettes Brot, Oliver Koletzki and Nhoah. In 2023, she takes part in the ninth season of the ProSieben show "The Masked Singer" and reaches fourth place in the final. In April 2025, Mieze Katz releases her first solo album For or Against, a female empowerment project with duets exclusively with female artists. The album includes songs such as "HellSehen" (feat. Eva Briegel), "LiLiLiebe" (with Madeline Juno) and "Bei Dir Sein", a posthumous duet with Hildegard Knef.
